Smile - 2

Helllo Lifectioners,

Smiling, even in a bad mood, can immediately improve your mood because these muscles are enough to trigger happy chemicals in the brain. The most powerful tool we got to overcome any tough circumstance.

“I was smiling yesterday,I am smiling today and I will smile tomorrow.Simply because life is too short to cry for anything.”

So, how did a Smile originate.?
To this day we're not quite sure how we came to smile that  much. It's especially interesting subject in body language since the smile is something almost uniquely "our" thing. Other animals don't smile, at least not in the same context as we do (except for a few exclusions that are similar to our smile).

So, what power does this thing has.?? In my last post, I gave you an excercise to work on... Did you tried it..?? Well, I would share my experience doing the same task.

It was 7.30 pm. I was driving back my way home from my college with my friend. And suddenly. while driving I realised that the road is completely blocked due to heavy traffic jam ahead of me. So, I decided to reverse back and just take the slip road about 100 meters behind. While reversing the car, I just hit a person on bike who was too trying to go back and take the slip road. Realising that I hit someone, I got off my car. The person ahead of me looked so angry and all ready for fight.
To which I responded with a smile and started to speak, "Sorry mate.! My bad. Seems that I should try some better reversing in future." Seeing my response to him, he rather than responding angrily, passed a smile to me and move on saying that, "Take care next time."
You see, how a situation which was on the verge of turning to fight changed to a simple calm situation and how the anger of the person shooed away.!! Thats the power of a smile.

“Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!”

Smile has got all the powers to make you stay positive. Even in some bollywood movies, like Munnabhai MBBS, it is shown that a person whilst angry starts to smile and calms himself down with laughter. Because, we all know Laughter is the best medicine.

"Everything happens for a reason,
live it, love it, learn from it!
Make your smile change the world,
but don't let the world
CHANGE YOUR SMILE."
'Coz your natural smile is the best of all..

What's in a Smile

Smile in body language is a very ambiguous thing. We all grew on the idea that smiling is good because it's associated with "happy". Depending on the social context smiles hold many other significances, some of them are even somewhat devious - we can show joy, affection, attraction, recognition, arrogance, contempt, sarcasm, empathy, politeness and fear with slightly different smiles (and this is only a partial list!).
Smiling often works as "insta-bonding", especially if you're a female. Because we're social animals - we need to know whom we can trust - who will cooperate with us, and who can harm us and we should avoid. A smile is a simple way to show just that - it's a signal of well being but also a message similar to "reaching out" to others, a sign of empathy.
But the bonuses to smiling are not ending there, the amount of other benefits to smiling is almost overwhelming - there's a correlation between people who smile with many almost unrelated benefits, people who smile more seem to:
  • Live longer
  • Perform better and think more broadly
  • Will actually feel better if they're down (one of the cases where your body language affect how you feel)
  • Will appear more successful and attractive
  • Will be judged more softly (the apologetic smile, similar to the chimp incident we talked about)
  • Will get away with "it" more often  - can you imagine hitting someone who's smiling at you?
But taking all the advantages, make sure you don't just go and smile when someone is mad at you or your teacher scolding you..! The results might be contagious.... :p
See you in next post... Smile while you still have teeth... :p
